Mind Dice, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace Thee Saikik Path
Taken from Mistuhquest, a thing I’m making maybe. I’m not too sure.
All mortals have a Mind Die, 1d6. This is your puny human mind.
Roll when in the presence of the horrid and fantastic.
When in the presence of such, roll it. If you roll over your current panic, add 1 Mark. For each mark of panic, subtract 1 from your mind toll. If you roll under your panic, you either enter (1d3)
- Fight: kill whatever makes you panic.
- Flight: run away until you can’t see what makes you panic anymore.
- Freeze: stand dead in your tracks. Panic is recovered via a week of rest, reducing it by 1.
If you roll equal to your panic, you “Get Used to It”. Encountering this thing now has a 1-in-6 chance to acquire a point of Illumination.
Illumination is one step away from humanity and one step towards the dreaming. It incurs an alignment check vs chaos and you can spells now.
